Creating a disability inclusive legal service

AIPJ aims to build accessibility into all activities, especially access to legal services. Highlights of our work include:

• The National Conference on Violence against Women with Disabilities in December 2013. Following the conference, AIPJ is working with partners to improve policies, laws and services for women with disabilities who are victims of violence or abuse.
• Paralegal training for people with disabilities to help our network of DPOs promote awareness of rights and services.
• Training of court officials, judges and prosecutors to make judicial processes more accessible and fairer to people with disabilities.
• Collaborating with Mitra Netra to make legal information accessible to the visually impaired. AIPJ has helped produce audio versions of key legislation and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons  with Disabilities.
