Vision setting and competency assessment improves AGO performance
AIPJ is supporting a range of activities to improve the AGO’s structure, management, business processes, and information systems.
Between February and April 2013, a total of four workshops were held for 120 senior officials of the AGO, including Attorney General Bapak Basrief Arief. The workshops were an opportunity for the leaders to reflect on and discuss the mission and vision of the AGO. It also provided a forum to discuss and strengthen leadership skills and knowledge of leadership principles. The AGO believes that leaders with a strong vision will sustain the momentum for reform and ensure the effective delivery of services to the Indonesian public.
“We received positive feedback from participants who attended the workshops, including the Attorney General and the Deputy Attorney General,” said Bapak Feri Wibisono, Head of the AGO’s Planning Bureau/ Secretary of the AGO’s Bureaucratic Reform Team as quoted by AIPJ Senior Manager for Anti-Corruption, Judhi Kristantini.
At the end of the workshops, leaders developed their own action plan to be implemented in their work place. Workshops were also planned to be held at the provincial level for 65 heads of Provincial Attorney General Offices.
In addition, AIPJ is supporting the development of human resources management systems by applying an objective and transparent methodology to assess the competency of AGO officials. This initiative is the first to ever apply within the Attorney General’s Office with 120 senior officials taking part in the process. The results of the first transparent and objective assessment will assist the leadership of the AGO in making fair decisions concerning promotion and rotation of their staff. It will also help in formulating and determining more comprehensive and structured development, training, and education programs to improve the capacity of staff.
AIPJ will continue to work with the Attorney General’s Office on their reform efforts that will enhance their capacity in prosecuting cases, including corruption cases.
