Recording court proceedings to benefit judges and the public

"This recording system will make judges more careful in applying the law, and this means their decisions will be more acceptable to the public," said Supreme Court Supervisory Board member, Khudori Aziz, after a series of visits by the Judicial Commission (KY), Bawas MA, and AIPJ to various courts in Medan.

In this visit to promote the implementation of the KY's planned Court Reporting System (CRS) in North Sumatra, Khudori Aziz was joined by KY Commissioner Jaja A. Jayus, KY Spokesman Asep Rahmat Fajar, KY Supervisor Rohma Dwi Astuti and Andri Kusuma, as well as AIPJ's Senior Manager for Court Reform, Binziad Kadafi.

AIPJ has supported the procurement, development of standard operating procedures, and training of operators. "We hope the program will give more comprehensive oversight and could reduce the reports made by citizen, especially regarding the behaviour of judges," said Khudori. The new surveillance system will not just keep an eye on judges but will be a valuable education tool for both judges and the public.

In addition to Medan, AIPJ is supporting CRS implementation in four other regions: Jakarta, Semarang, Makassar and Mataram. The new system will be launched in October 2013.
